Text: Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
Introduction: In this week’s outline we will look at six reasons why Christians may be ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. Who would not like to hear the good news? The gospel means good news, but many people don’t seem to want to hear it, and many Christians don’t seem to want to share it. We will start with reason number six and work our way down.
Christians may be ashamed because:
Six: They don’t know what the Gospel is.
1 Corinthians 15: 3-4 ”For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
That is the Gospel of Jesus Christ; He died for our sins and arose from the dead.
Five: They don’t believe the Gospel is true.
You must believe the Gospel through faith or; you are not saved because you have not received God’s gift of salvation. Check up on yourself.
Philippines 2:12 “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”
Four: They don’t take the Lordship of Christ seriously.
Matthew 7: 20-21 “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
Three: They can’t answer the objecting questions asked to trip them up.
Luke 12: 11-12 “…… take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.” If you cannot answer a question: first do not make up an answer; second do not argue about the scriptures, only Christ can soften a hard heart.
Two: They are men pleasers and not God pleasers. If someone is telling an off colored joke, do you not say anything? “Silence implies consent.”
One: They are worried about offending someone.
The world does not care if they offend us Christians. Others force their agendas upon us, but we must accept their demonic ways. Television programs offend and even make fun of what we view as sacred. Their language comes straight out of the gutter. Does that show what the average person is like or wants? Some will be offended by the Gospel; Some will be glad to hear it.
Conclusion: We teach love and respect of others; if we don’t we are not doing what Christ taught us to do. Don’t be ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it saves a Soul from Hell and erases a multitude of sins according to the scriptures.
