Ask, Seek, Knock,

Text: Matthew 7:7-8Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”

Introduction: Prayer comes with a promise. The key is believing through faith.

If you have ever had one of your prayers answered, then you know by the way that it was answered that the answer came from heaven. Many studies have been done on prayer, the problem is that God doesn’t take tests. The church of God must pray in one accord to get anything done and prayers answered.

Ask- James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

When we pray, first we start with praise and glory to the Father. We ask for what we desire for God to do about our problem, then because we through ignorance could ask amiss; We end as Jesus taught us. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is done in heaven. Then we accept the answer: Yes, No, or Wait, but we keep on praying until we get peace about our prayer. Ask to receive.

Seek- Jesus taught us that we must put legs on our prayers. We do our part and He does His part. “Go dip seven times in the Jordan River to be healed.” Many times I have done all that I could do about a problem, I would pray: “Lord I have done all that I could think of to do; I now turn it over to you!” and sometimes the Holy Spirit would say; “You need to try this.” Jesus taught action: Seek to find.

Knock- Knock suggests that there is a closed door. We pray that for God’s guidance that He open and close doors. First we must open the door to Christ.

He stands at the door and knocks, if we will open it he will come and dine with us.

Christ also said that he was the gate and we could go in and out and find pasture.

Knock to open.

Conclusion: We need to unite and lay down our petty differences to get something done in this world. Christ said: “If they are not against us that they are with us.”

In one accord through unity we need to pray for:

Release of the Christian prisoners throughout the world.

Turn our leader’s hearts back to God to guide their decisions and direction.

Spiritual awakening in America that men, women and children come to know Christ.

May God’s will be done!
