Text: Job 1:21 Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away;
blessed be the name of the Lord.
Introduction: Many times I have heard the statement: Why did God have to prove anything to Satan? God used the story of Job to prove to us that no matter what happens to a righteous person; they will not lose their faith in God.
Job lost everything that could be taken from him but his life. He lost his possessions, his family, and his health. His wife told him to curse God and die. Then his friends showed up to analyze the situation.
Even today people think like Job’s friends when something bad happens to someone. They surely must have sinned for something that bad to have happened.
Job’s Testimony: The story of Job is approximately 2600 years old. Think of all the generations of people that have heard and pondered this event. God used this story to prove to Satan and multitudes of people that no matter what happens to a righteous man; he will not lose his faith in God. Many times good people go through terrible hardships to prove to others that nothing will shake their trust in God. God uses them to witness to people who do not appreciate their blessings.
I Will not be a Hypocrite: Job 13:15 “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him:
but I will maintain mine own ways before him.” Job said that he would not be something that he was not. Job maintained that he had done nothing to deserve what was happening to him, even though his friends thought differently.
God Answers: God told Job and his friends that they were all wrong, but he did not tell them the reason for all these happenings. We do not know many times why God does certain things that we do not understand. We try to make up an answer so we will try to understand according to our own logic and wisdom. God used Job as an example of faith and trust in God, even when he cannot understand why.
Conclusion: If we put our trust and faith in God through Jesus Christ. We know that whatever God does and allows to happen is all under His control.
Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
