Meditate

Text: Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

Introduction: Hearing one or two sermons a week is far from what we are told to do to be successful. We are to meditate day and night on the scriptures and obey them accordingly. Jesus said that if we love him we will keep the commandments. We need to set aside time each day to study and meditate on God’s Word; if we do this, certain scriptures will come to mind in certain situations that we face.

What Jesus Taught: Love Matthew 22:37-40 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two  commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

Where is it? There is so much anger and hate in the world today. You can almost feel it in the atmosphere when you travel some places. Why does our education system not teach God’s precepts in the schools? The Bible says that there is no law against good, but we have managed to make some laws against good. We cannot police civil obedience, the will to obey the law must come from the heart. Children must be raised to honor and obey the laws of God and man.

What Will It Take? When someone realizes the Love of Christ and what he has done for each one of us. How we are forgiven of all our sins and made able to start all over again. We are reborn as new creatures in Christ. I felt like a heavy weight had been lifted from my shoulders. You can feel the same way and life will have true meaning again.

Conclusion:  There are some who will read this outline and scoff, but there are some who will meditate on these words and it will change their life.
