Standing on the Promises

Text: 2 Peter 1:4 “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

Introduction: What did you expect when you became a Christian? Christ told us the truth about following Him. He said that following Him would not be an easy road. We will be persecuted by the world system because they love sin more than a right relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The promises of Christ are forgiveness of Sin and Eternal Life in Heaven. He did not promise health, wealth and comfort in this world. We will have peace with God through Jesus Christ now and forever more.

Freedom:  John 8: 31b-32 “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Christ came to set the captives of sin free. All of us have sinned in thought and deed. We now have an advocate with God to plead our case, Jesus Christ.

Spread the Word: Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” We need brothers and sisters in Christ. The question is asked: “Will there be faith of the earth when Christ returns?” The answer is yes. As long as the Holy Spirit convicts the heart of sin and the need to be set free from it; there will be faith on this earth. The best feeling on this planet is to see someone come to faith in Christ.

Come Now! 2 Corinthians 6:2 “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)” Come to Christ now; it is never too late!

Join those who have been set free.

Conclusion: Christ promised to be our friend in all of the storms of life. Someone that you can go to at any time day or night. You can stand on the promises of God fulfilled through His son Jesus Christ.
