Take Heed

Text: I Timothy 4:1 “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;”

Introduction: The definition of the word “heed” means: to listen to, to take notice.

We hear many times someone say: “I wish that I had not listened to them.” The Devil’s main goal is to keep individuals out of Heaven by deception. There is no other Gospel than that of the one taught by Jesus Christ. No new idea, no new concept, no self-improvement program will do what is required to enter the Kingdom of God.

Heed the Gospel of Jesus. Accept forgiveness for your sins through the gift of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross for our sins: repent of your sins and vow to serve Jesus through His teachings. The Holy Spirit will let you know if you are sincere or not.

Take Heed: I Timothy 14:12 “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man,
but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Know what you believe and why you believe. If you cannot back it up with scripture, be very aware. If it is false doctrine it will go against what the Bible teaches.

Take Heed: II Peter 1:3a “And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you:” Men will come in and make selling Jesus a business. They will create empires while the poor suffer. They will teach things that appeal to the emotions and feelings. They will claim to “know things” that no one else knows. They are right and everyone else wrong. Take heed!

Take Heed: I John 4:1 “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” The spirits of the saved can discern each other. If something doesn’t feel right, it may not be. Take heed, be not deceived.

Conclusion: Luke 11:35 “Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.” One cannot accept Christ and continue in sin. The Word says that God is angry with the sinner every day. If you continue in sin; either you did not accept Christ and repent, or you will bring the chastisement of God on yourself. Take Heed!
