The Purpose of the Church Series – Glorifying God

Text: Ephesians 3:20-21  “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.” Amen.

Introduction: God’s Church is not a building, but the people within it that serve God according to His Word. We have the same mission that Jesus Christ had: to Glorify God the Father by doing His Will. This is the main purpose of the Church.

We bring Glory to God through His Son Jesus Christ who died for us. He showed us the love of God and told us how to be rescued from Sin; that we may go to Heaven when we die.

We bring Glory to God by sharing God’s love with others that God’s Church might grow and prosper, making the world a better place. Some may scoff at this, but look around; we have tried to remove Christ from our society and now we are reaping the results. God is not dead, but we have tried our best to kill Him!

     Start to Glorify God by:

  1. Praying and then listening. 2. Showing God’s love to others. 3. Serving God His way by our actions.

Six more ways to Glorify God:

Invest in People—

Galatians 5:14 “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

Offer Help where it is needed—

Matthew 25:40 “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

Seek Wisdom—

Proverbs 16:16 “How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!”

Practice Hospitality—

Hebrews 13:2 “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

Show Forgiveness—

Mark 11:25 “And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”

Set Aside Time to Worship Every Day—

Psalm 29:2 “Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

Solution: II Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
